Who Is Sports' Most Popular?

Most Popular Sports Stars: 1. Tiger Woods Is Sports' Most Popular?
used to stand alone as America's most popular athlete, but allegations of marital infidelity have caused many of his fans to flee. See who the top 10 sports stars are and which one (who probably understands what Tiger is going through) is now tied with Woods at No. 1.

10. Dale Earnhardt Jr. The NASCAR star doesn't win very often anymore, but he has not lost his loyal fan base.

9. Drew Brees The Saints quarterback is riding high after winning the Super Bowl in February.

8. Tom Brady Brady dropped out of the top 10 last year after an injury ruined his 2008 season, but the Patriots quarterback came back strong in '09 and saw his popularity follow suit.

7. Michael Jordan He has not suited up for an NBA game in more than seven years, but His Airness is still much-beloved. That popularity is eroding, however, as MJ fell from second place in last year's ranking.

6. LeBron James Jumping to South Beach did little to enhance 'The King's' image. James dropped from third place in 2009.

5. Peyton Manning A squeaky clean image and great production on the field have carried the Colts quarterback up from seventh to the top 5.

4. Brett Favre The most popular quarterback of them all is also the most exasperating. Will he play in 2010? Will he retire? Will he retire, and then play? Favre remains a man of mystery.

3. Derek Jeter The only baseball player in the top 10, Jeter continues to benefit from being a long-time star on the sport's most glamorous team.

2. (tied) Tiger Woods He hasn't won this year and is still reeling from his embarrassing sex scandal and the rumored end of his marriage, but Tiger's popularity remains very strong.

1. (tied) Kobe Bryant Like Woods, Bryant once saw his reputation shattered and lucrative endorsement deals ended by a sexual indiscretion. Since that infamous incident in 2003, the Lakers superstar has largely avoided controversy, again become a top pitch man and led L.A. to back-to-back titles.
