Is Your Vehicle Ready for the Drive to Success?

As a Pre-Paid Legal Independent Associate, a lot of your time may be spent behind the wheel. Most of us heavily depend on vehicles to get us where we need to go for work or play, but is vehicle maintenance also a part of your schedule? Consumer reports.com has published a list of unwelcomed surprises and prevention tips to offset possible vehicle problems. Here’s a few:
1. * Dead battery - All batteries weaken over time plus multiple accessories being used when the headlights are on can leave the battery uncharged. Have the battery and alternator tested as part of an annual inspection.
2. * Flat tire or blowout - Many tire problems result from underinflated tires that overheat. Keep all tires, even the spare, inflated to the vehicle maker’s recommendation by checking them at least monthly.
3. * Fluid leak - Check your vehicle’s fluids regularly referring to the owner’s manual. Look at the pavement or area where you park for signs of leaks, and, if so, follow through with a mechanic.
4. * Worn-out wipers or no fluid - Poor visibility causes many accidents so inspect your wipers before you need them. If there’s signs of deterioration or tearing it might be time for a change and refill of nonfreezing washer fluid.
5. * Broken belts - Easy to forget but vital for vehicles on the go. Belts should be checked periodically for cracks, brittleness and fraying. If there’s slack in the belt or a squealing noise while driving, adjustments or repairs are needed.
For specific directions regarding your vehicle, check the owner’s manual for details. Your time on the road may be important for keeping your PPL business on the move, but safety should always come first. Of course, if a vehicle’s maintenance issues evolve into legal questions, you can call your PPL provider firm. It’s like having a GPS for legal directions.
