Signs Come Down At St. Vincent's

Work is already underway to prepare St. Vincent's Hospital for its closure at the end of the month. The cash-strapped hospital's signs were removed on Wednesday. This comes a day after St. Vincent's announced ambulances are no longer bringing psychiatric patients to its emergency department. Walk-in patients are still being accepted. Workers say it's sad seeing the bare building. "They implemented the taking down of the signs and our wonderful flag from St. Vincent's to, how would you say, discourage people from coming to the hospital," said St. Vincent's Hospital Mortician Eva Marie Rodriguez. "We came outside for a break and they're just taking down all the signs, anything that says St. Vincent's just came right down," said St. Vincent's Hospital nurse Lisa Depo. But as the hospital signs come down, others are going up. A picture sent in by a viewer shows a sign that reads "We Are All Screwed - 9/10 Doctors Agree." There's no word on who put it up. The hospital is set to close on April 30.
