Biggest Prize Of Them All?

Biggest Free Agents Ever: 1. LeBron James' tenure in Cleveland might have ended after seven years, as he is now perhaps the biggest free-agent prize in the history of sports. Check out other superstars who made waves when they switched teams.
2. Alex Rodriguez: Before LeBron, Alex Rodriguez was probably the most coveted free agent ever. He later expressed regret over signing a 10-year, $252 million deal with the Rangers after the 2000 season.
3. Shaquille O'Neal altered the landscape of the NBA when he joined the Lakers in 1996. He would later team with Kobe Bryant to win three championships.
4. Reggie Jackson proved he was 'the straw that stirs the drink' after he joined the Yankees in 1976 as one of the first mega-free agents ever. He promptly led New York to two straight World Series titles and became 'Mr. October'.
5. Reggie White: The other great Reggie in free-agent history, Reggie White, like Jackson had an immediate impact on his new team. He joined the Packers in 1993 as one of the first major free-agent moves in NFL history and led Green Bay to a Super Bowl XXXI title.
6. Greg Maddux: Coming off a Cy Young Award season in 1992, Greg Maddux was one of the most coveted free agents baseball has ever seen. He eventually signed with the Braves for five years and $28 million -- a deal that would prove to be a bargain.
7. Barry Bonds: The other great prize in the winter of '92 was reigning MVP Barry Bonds, who would sign with the Giants for six years and a then-record $43.75 million and go on to repeat as MVP.
8. Deion Sanders pulled off the rare feat of being a hot free agent two years in a row. He signed a one-year deal with the 49ers in 1994, won a Super Bowl, then signed a $35 million contract with the Cowboys early in the '95 season and won another Super Bowl.
9. Drew Brees: In retrospect, Drew Brees perhaps should have been the most-wanted free agent in NFL history. A shoulder injury made him a risk, but the Saints gave him a six-year, $60 million deal in 2006 and now are Super Bowl champs.
10. Wayne Gretzky: Hockey has had its share of major free agents, but none bigger than 'The Great One'. Wayne Gretzky took New York by storm when he signed with the Rangers in 1996 for his final three seasons.
