From Sports Field To Political Arena

Political Jocks: 1. Known as one of the worst free throw shooters in NBA history, Chris Dudley is now making a name for himself as a candidate for governor in Oregon.
2. Known as one of the NFL's dirtiest players when he was an offensive lineman, most recently with the Eagles, Jon Runyan should feel at home in politics as he seeks one of New Jersey's seats in the House of Representatives.
3. Clint Didier has gone from a tight end with the Redskins to farming alfalfa, and now he hopes to become a senator from the state of Washington.
4. At 7-6, Shawn Bradley was one of the tallest players in NBA history ... and some would say one of the biggest busts. He is looking for better success in his bid for the Utah Legislature.
5. Jack Kemp, who died in 2009, won two championships as quarterback of the Buffalo Bills before launching a distinguished political career that included an unsuccessful run for the Republican presidential nomination in 1988.
6. Steve Largent served four terms in Congress as a representative from Oklahoma after his record-setting career as a receiver with the Seattle Seahawks.
7. In addition to being one of only 19 men to have ever pitched a perfect game, Jim Bunning has also served Kentucky as both a representative and a senator.
8. Heath Shuler was a spectacular bust as an NFL quarterback, but he's hit his stride as a two-term representative from North Carolina.
9. Bill Bradley, who still holds the record for most points scored in a Final Four game, was a former senator from New Jersey who failed in an attempt for the Democratic presidential nomination in 2000.
10. Did Dave Bing's long career in the NBA help prepare him for the monumental job of reviving Detroit as its mayor? Only time will tell.
